Name:
Jamie Lemetti
Date of birth:
08/08/1990
Occupation:
Actor, Director, Unit Manager
What gave you the inspiration to follow your career?
At an early age I caught the acting bug and fell in love with performing. At the age of 11 my gran signed me up for the local children’s theatre and by 16 I had left school to chase the dream and knew that all I wanted was to work within the creative arts. I was drawn in by the different types of creative people you work with, entertaining audiences and the idea of always working on different projects.
What has been your most interesting job so far?
I once filmed a TV advert for a national bank which involved staying in a hotel in the middle of Glen Coe with only a fire, some wild dear and game of thrones actor James Cosmo and Still game legend Mark Costello to keep me company.
Where have you travelled within your job?
I once received a call on a Friday evening asking if I was available to fly out to Germany on the following Monday to start a 6-month theatre tour. This took me across Germany from North to South and East to West. I have now spent the past 6 years periodically visiting the country directing their shows for each season.
I’ve been working in Bristol for the past 2 years working with actors like Stephen Merchant, Christopher Walken and Richard E Grant on various projects.
What has been the most trying part of your job?
As a freelancer, it can at times be hard with the uncertainty of what the next job will be. I find the best thing for off setting this is by diversifying the type of services you can provide and relying on repeat work from companies. I also have to spend a lot of time away from my family and friends. Without the support of these family members, it would be a major struggle to be away from them for so long.
If you were to say anything to the upcoming generation about acting the creative industry, what would it be?
Love what you do, and you will never work a day in your life. Don’t be scared to try new roles as you grow in the industry and learn new skills. Experience will get you so far but it is all about how hard you work and how much you want it.
